Lycanfolk

Garou

No one knows the source of the Garou or other Lycan races. The Garou specifically are humans able to shape change in to wolves. Their heritage has been speculated to be the decendants of human cursed with lycanthropy, wolves who have been bitten by werewolves, and as a unique strand of the lycanthropy curse altogether.
Whatever the case, the Garou are reclusive due to the persecution by those that believe them to be murderous werewolves. Indeed, the Garou share many common traits with werewolves but generally learn better control over their ability to shape change. Many Garou hide amongst the wilderness and live solitary lives. Others live in plain sight in crowded cities. Villages of Garou are said to exist throughout the lands were man has settled. These isolated communities remain places of fear and speculation by outsiders.
Garou enjoy a strong connection to nature but are essentially human. Unless informed of their Garou heritage and instructed in the ways of their shape changing abilities, many young Garou remain unaware of their true nature. In these cases their transformation to their wolf forms occurs on the nights of the full moon and they hunt like those cursed with lycanthropy. Given time and instruction they learn to master their transformation and can harness their powerful connection to nature.

Lycanfolk Racial Traits

Lycanfolk have an assortment of inborn abilities, much like normal lycanthropes. However, Lycanfolk cannot transmit lycanthropy like normal. Over time somehow the curse became a part of them they are lycan from birth. Lycanthropy is a dominant trait if a Lycanfolk has a child with a human that child is a Lycanfolk.
